At our Celebration Gala on Saturday, March 23, 2019, we have the great honor of recognizing Stephen and Shannon Mackey for their life’s work to empower people with disabilities and presenting them with the Sherwood R. Simons Achievement Award, named after the founding president of The Arc of Loudoun.
Stephen, Chief Creative Officer at W2 Communications, and Shannon Mackey, both owners of Mesh Omnimedia and Notaviva Vineyards, were asked to create a documentary for the business owners of Spectrum Designs in Port Washington, NY. Spectrum Design’s mission is to include people with intellectual disabilities and autism as integral members
of their business environment; 75% of their employees are on the spectrum.
The documentary, “This Business of Autism” delivered on its promise to address the positive economic and societal aspects of developing profitable businesses that employ individuals with autism. “This Business of Autism” is not only bringing attention to employing people with intellectual disabilities but is getting international recognition, recently being accepted into the prestigious 2019 Entr’2 Marches Film Festival held in Cannes, France.
Join us for this special recognition as we rally together to embrace, educate, engage and empower people with disabilities and their families.
